Awkward Third Wheel

So, here we are. I’m going to cut to the chase and give the origins behind this site.

First, the name. “Awkward Third Wheel” is a code phrase that acts as a sort of an inside joke on our college floor. The phrase originated around finals week in the fall semester of 2008. Many people who finished their finals before the end of finals week left early to go home for winter break. I, however, had to stay behind for a biology final on the 20th of December. Knowing that most of my friends would leave long before I did, I expressed some discomfort at the notion of being all alone. To my fortune, two friends of mine (who happen to be dating) were staying behind. The joke was that I would be their “awkward third wheel” for the week. Thus, “awkward third wheel” was born.

The phrase itself is intended to be exclaimed in a high-pitched, musical tone.

All of the comics I create will revolve around this joke of “awkward third wheels” in some form or another. Truth is, two’s company, but three’s a crowd. These comics are dedicated to the third wheels in the world. Clearly, I’m a much better writer than I am a comic artist.
